"I miss my Oda the most. Every night as I lay down exhausted, I dream of it. If only I could visit once more, sit on its balcony, hear my mother bustling around the house, and feel the comfort and peace of being home..."— an unknown Gurian Rider

About Oda Sisona and the Gurian Riders

Oda Sisona is dedicated to the Gurian riders who, due to difficult circumstances, were forced to leave their homeland and seek opportunities across the Atlantic. Their remarkable story begins in the late 19th century and continues to early 20th, when Buffalo Bill’s impresario noticed their extraordinary horsemanship and invited them to join the 'Congress of Rough Riders of the World.' Tragically, many of these Gurians never returned home and we know very little about their individual stories. Oda Sisona pays tribute to those Gurian riders who, through their participation in this famous overseas show, shared Georgian culture—largely unknown at the time—with the Western world.

Book your stay at this Oda to immerse yourself in history and step into the lives of remarkable Gurians. Through its artifacts, prints, and the stories it holds, the Oda offers a journey into the past that is both enriching and captivating.

Some of the photographs used are part of Irakli Makharadze’s personal collection. To learn more about Gurian riders from this researcher, please click here.

Each of our 6 Odas has its own distinct story, transforming each stay into a journey through Georgian heritage—a true living museum that offers a window into the past.
